Fund Raising

There are many reasons why fund raising is needed to be done . Firstly, the cost to each individual would be too great if the total cost of the tour was equally shared out . We have put a figure of £70,000 extra to be raised in order to allow the tour to go ahead. If we were to divide that figure by the 35 players the cost would be £4750 per player.                                                                                                                                                            The main reason why fund raising is so important is that it makes the players go out and earn something that they will benefit from, a sense of achievement. It also forces players to consider other players situation . some players are in a  fortunate position financially, others are not and therefore it may be that some players need to raise their fee by fund raising, other players can assist. It breaks down barriers and creates more of a team ethos. These are skills and experiences that will stand each player in good stead for future employment / life skills.  Of course the more that is raised the less the overall cost will be to the individual.                                                                                        We can not see a way of this tour going ahead without raising that £70K.

Q1-  Collections buckets at club bar for donations and loose change.                                                                                                                                                             A- Yes as long as you have permission from the club.

Q2- Collection buckets properly labelled to take around schools at break time.                                                    A- Again don't see a problem  , you would have to get permission from the school , I suspect that may be difficult to get , but feel free to ask.

Q3- Car boot sale on same day as tour get together.                                                                                         A-  I am guessing that the question has been raised with the view of running a car boot sale for other people to come to rather than collecting items to sell at a car boot sale .We as a management committee would support the idea and would welcome a group of people to organise it. I would suggest that any car boot sale would need trading licenses or authority from local authorities as well as the land owner. I am not sure how the team bonding issues were meant but I would guess that a vast number of the players would be needed for car park marshalling or tea & hotdog stand duties etc. Once the cars are in and people trading I would have thought that a training session or similar could then be conducted at a venue close by , if not already held at a rugby club , it all depends on how big the event turns into. We think it's a brilliant idea and could raise a lot  of money.

Q4-Sponsored bake - boys cooking and sell produce to friends and neighbour's at school.                                   A- Sounds good , do we have budding chefs out there , anyone interested in trying to arrange it .

Q5-Car Washing in Sussex Kit .                                                                                                                         A- No problem , probably better in Sussex kit rather than a Borat suit or some of the other clothing suggestions the boys had.

Q6- School Disco                                                                                                                                               A- Would anyone like to try discussing this with their school.

Q7- Rag week , Dress up , walk around local town with collective buckets .                                                         A- Really good idea , I'm sure the boys could come up with some imaginative ideas , pram races, fancy dress parade ? Will put it to the boys when communications lines get sorted . any ideas where ? . Will need to look into village /council rules, regulations . Does anyone know any friendly village councillors ?

Q8- Sports day , boys taking around collecting buckets and selling produce                                                       from baking and making sandwiches.                                                                                                             A- Can anyone expand on this one.

Q9- Sponsored car /truck pull , get local paper / radio in cover event . From local RFC to school and take on another school in local area.                                                                                                                             A- Really good idea , hope we are not talking about Dinky cars !! Does anyone know a friendly reporter with local radio or newspapers. Shall we aim  for something like a truck , can anyone assist with one.
