 INTRODUCTION

 1.      The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, “The Tigers” will be your host for the pre tour training/team building.   You will be spending 5 days with the 1st Battalion, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, who are stationed in Paderborn, Germany and are the most decorated Regiment in the British Army and the oldest English Regiment of the line.

 2.      Your stay with The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment will be for 6 nights.

 3.     During your stay with the 1st Battalion your parents, family, next of kin can contact you in an emergency by calling the unit Guardroom on 004952511013243.  This telephone is manned 24 hours a day.  Those contacting you must understand that you may not be immediately available and that they may have to leave a message.

 UNDER 18’s

 4.    Attached to this letter is a parental consent and a joining Performa, please ask your parent or guardian to complete them and return by 1st Apr 09 in the stamped address envelope provided.

 5.     There is a requirement that the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) should be completed, and can be accessed on line.  You will be required to sign a waver stating that this has been completed on arrival at St Martins Plain Camp.

 PASSPORT

 6.         A valid Passport is required and it must have at least 6 months remaining.

 7.         Food and accommodation during your stay is free.  You should take sufficient Euro currency to last you the week as there is the opportunity to visit the NAAFI and visit the Town of Paderborn.  We ask that you do not take large amounts of money or expensive electrical equipment with you.

THE AIM OF EX FIERCE TIGER II

 8.         EX FIERCE TIGER II is designed to give you a brief insight in to life with The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment and EX FIERCE TIGER II will also be the start for the teams coaching  and preparation for the forthcoming Sussex County’s tour of South Africa. This training might be hard for  some of you but FIERCE TIGER II is aimed at team building, assessing your self reliance and fitness levels, along with an opportunity to see what life  is like within an Infantry Battalion.  You will have the opportunity to talk to the soldiers and see how they live during day to day life and routine.

 9.         Your fitness and personal skills will be assessed throughout and a report will be written on you for your coaches.  A programme for the 6 day activity is attached at the end of these instructions, please note that this program is subject to change.

 MOVEMENT AND TRANSPORTATION

 10.       You are required to be at Brighton TA Centre by 1800hrs on the Saturday where you will be met by Captain Andrew Layzell. From Brighton will travel to St Martins Plain Camp Folkestone for an over night stay and where you will meet the military staff who will escort you to Germany. A breakfast meal will be provided and a packed lunch will be given out prior to getting on a coach to take you to Germany.  You will travel back to the UK on the following Friday and you should be back at Brighton TA Centre  about 1830hrs.

 CLOTHING

 11.       During your stay in Germany you will be provided with the clothing you will require throughout the 6 days (uniform) but you must also bring a good pair of boots.  County Training kit & Rugby boots is required as well as a good pair of trainers.  Casual clothing should cover you  for the 5 days, suits are not required.  Washing & shaving equipment is required, for normal hygiene.  It is suggested that you do take some form of waterproof clothing, and for the winter courses gloves/woolly hat and warmer clothing is essential.

 12.       For Health & Safety reasons all body piercing’s are to be removed prior to reporting to St Martins Plain Camp on the Saturday.  The emergency contact mobile number that can be reached if required is 07775587389.  This number is held by Capt Keith Roberts and can be reached for any further questions regarding EX FIRECR TIGER II.  Other useful telephone numbers are Team East Commander 07825106893 and Team West Commander 0750010063.  The telephone number for the Guardroom at St Martins Plain Camp is 01303 225275

 SUMMARY

 13.       EX FIERCE TIGER II will give you an insight to The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment. The Regiment looks forward to meeting you all and hopefully the 5 days will help your preparation for the tour of South Africa.
