Sussex-SA 2009

Purpose

This is the official website for the proposed tour of South Africa for the Sussex U17

County Rugby squad. It is proposed that the squad will travel in July 2009 .

The purpose of this website is to provide all the up to date information for the players ,

parents , opposition teams and sponsors , without who this tour would not be possible .

The website also intended to provide the very latest details of proposed social events

training days and weekends .

It is our intention that during the tour we will provide information and photo's for the

parents back home .

The Aim of the tour

It was decided to tour South Africa for many reasons , it is without doubt one of the

toughest nations in the world to play Rugby in , South Africans take their rugby

very seriously as was proved in 2007 when they lifted the Webb Ellis trophy and

became Rugby World Champions . This will take the players to a new level of

confidence and playing ability.

South Africa is an extremely diverse country, from the poverty and hardships in the

townships to the wealth and glamour of Cape Town and Johannesburg . Rugby is

however a sport which bridges these huge divides , you will find Rugby played in the

small villages on baked dust fields to the perfect pitches of the private schools. It is our

intention to try and sample some of these extremes not avoid then , we will be playing

the private schools, and the players will be coaching young Children in small villages

and providing them with free kit .

South Africa is without doubt one of the most beautiful countries in the World and our

aim is to try and sample some of the scenery and unique history of the Country .
